My father, John F Barmon Sr, served in the Army Air Corps during WWII, flying unarmed C-47 supply planes over the Himalayas from Chabua, India into Kunming, China to keep our troops fighting alongside the Chinese army to keep the Japanese army from taking control over the region. It wasn't glamorous, but it was necessary, heroic, and fairly unrecognized. The CBI (China, Burma, India) conflict has often been called the "Forgotten War", except for us whose parents served there.

God bless all the brave men and women who served and are serving in our armed forces. I miss you Dad, you are and always have been a hero in my eyes.

Pie in the Sky funds Community Servings’ meal program, which will prepare and deliver more than 1.2 million scratch-made medically tailored meals to individuals and families impacted by a range of critical and chronic illnesses, including cancer, heart disease, diabetes, kidney disease, HIV/AIDS, and more.

Once again it's that time of year!

As I've done over the past 15 years, I’m working again with Boston-based Community Servings to support our neighbors in need across Massachusetts through Pie in the Sky, the agency’s annual fundraising bake sale, now in its 33rd year.

This is an urgent request, as legislation passed this last summer poses a major threat to people living with food insecurity, chronic illiness, and many other health conditions.
