Our kids had some different opinions on Sunday, and I’m glad we took the time to hear them.
We were talking about Elon Musk and the phone industry when Ashlynn, our 8-year-old, suddenly said, “I’m never selling the family business!”
That opened a whole conversation we definitely had to explore. 😂
Aaliyah, our 13-year-old, said she would sell, but she would put the money into a trust to protect it.
Antonio, our 11-year-old, said he would sell because, in his words, “Most businesses don’t make money until they sell.”
We talked through the pros and cons of selling the family business, listened to their reasoning, and shared our perspective.
Meanwhile, Amir, our 6-year-old, had one thing on his mind: “Can you read my fortune cookie?” 😂😂😂
The truth is, generational wealth isn’t just about leaving your children money. It’s also about passing down your experience, knowledge, and guidance.
Just because you leave them money doesn’t mean they’ll know how to manage it, protect it, or grow it.
Those lessons start with conversations like this.
