Today we honor Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day.
On June 19, 1865, Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced that more than 250,000 enslaved African Americans in Texas were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation had been signed. Juneteenth commemorates the day freedom finally reached those who had been denied it and serves as a powerful reminder of resilience, hope, and the ongoing pursuit of equality.
As we recognize this important day in American history, we reflect on the meaning of freedom and the generations of individuals whose strength, perseverance, and contributions helped shape our nation and communities.
From all of us at Pearl Street Realty, we wish you a meaningful Juneteenth as we remember the past, honor progress, and continue building a future of opportunity for all.
