As part of our continued commitment to giving back throughout the year, we are proud to share that our July donation went to Sleep in Heavenly Peace in Alton, Illinois.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace began in 2012 in Twin Falls, Idaho, when founder Luke Mickelson built a bed for a family in need. What started as one simple act of kindness grew into a national nonprofit dedicated to making sure no child has to sleep on the floor. Today, volunteers across the country build and deliver beds to children who do not have a safe and comfortable place to sleep.

That mission has made its way right here in the Riverbend community. The Alton chapter was founded in November 2019 and serves children and families across Madison, Jersey, Greene, and Macoupin counties. Local volunteers build beds by hand and deliver them directly to children in need throughout the area.

For us, supporting the Alton chapter is especially meaningful because it allows our giving to stay close to home. A national mission becomes a local impact when neighbors, volunteers, and organizations come together to help children in our own community.

From all of us at Glisson Law, thank you to the volunteers and supporters of Sleep in Heavenly Peace who are helping make sure every child has a bed to call their own.

See yellow, touch the brake pedal! 🚌🛑

In Illinois, drivers are required by law to stop behind school buses that are displaying red flashing lights and their extended arm stop sign(s).

This law also applies to drivers in the opposite lane of a bus, meaning both lanes of traffic must stop for school buses (unless the road is divided by a median).

Proceed with extra caution when driving near a school bus and always allow at least 20 feet between you and the bus. They’re carrying our future and the most important cargo.

Wishing our Glisson Law followers and beyond a very happy, successful, and safe school year! 📚✏️🚌

As students head back to the classroom, we encourage everyone to appreciate their teachers, be kind to one another, and learn as much as they can!

The start of the school year also means more children walking to school, riding bikes, waiting at bus stops, and crossing busy streets. Drivers should slow down, stay alert in school zones, put away distractions, and always stop for school buses when required by law. A few extra seconds of caution can help prevent a life changing accident.

At Glisson Law, we know that keeping our communities safe starts with looking out for one another. Let's work together to make this school year a safe one for every student, teacher, and family. Have a great first day of school and an even better year ahead! 🍎

After an accident, you may think the only evidence is what you remember and what the police report says. But security cameras at gas stations, restaurants, banks, schools, homes, and intersections may have captured what happened.

When you hire Glisson Law, our team can investigate whether video footage exists and work to obtain and preserve that evidence when appropriate. That footage could help show what really happened, support your claim, and give us stronger evidence when dealing with the insurance company.

You may not know what was captured. That’s why a thorough investigation matters. Collecting the right evidence can make a difference.

As part of our continued commitment to giving back throughout the year, we are proud to share that our delayed June donation is going to our nearby Missouri chapter of the Make A Wish Foundation.

Make A Wish creates life changing wishes for children facing critical illnesses, bringing hope, strength, and joy during some of the most difficult moments in their lives. These wishes are more than just experiences. They can help children build courage, support families, and create lasting memories when they need it most.

Supporting our nearby Missouri community is at the heart of what we do, and organizations like Make A Wish remind us how powerful it is to come together and make a difference for local families.

When we made our pledge at the start of the year, our goal was simple. To create a meaningful impact in every community we serve. This is one more way we are proud to follow through on that commitment.

From all of us at Glisson Law, thank you to the volunteers, donors, and supporters who help make these wishes possible. We are honored to play a small part in bringing hope to children and families across our region.

Did you know that your city more than likely offers basic first aid training and education?

First aid care is the ability to help an injured person during the time it takes first responders to arrive at the scene. From CPR, to wound care and beyond, knowing this invaluable information may help save someone’s life!

Reach out to your local Health Department or check out: https://www.redcross.org/take-a-class/first-aid?scode=PSG00000E017&gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=12295555149&gbraid=0AAAAAD0HxsB07il9yzIyvakI-MBB4iy41

After an accident, one of the first things you may feel the urge to do is post online that you are okay or share just a quick update so friends and family do not worry if they heard what happened. But what if we told you this can do more harm than you realize.

Insurance companies actively review social media after an accident. They look for anything they can use to minimize your claim. A simple “I’m okay” can be taken out of context and used to argue that your injuries are not serious. A photo from a family gathering or vacation, even days or weeks later, can be used to suggest you are not as hurt as you say.

What you post does not tell the full story. It does not show the pain, the medical treatment, or how your daily life has been affected. But it can still be used against you. After an accident, it is okay to focus on your recovery and keep details offline. Protecting your case starts with protecting what you share. Because once it is posted, you may not be able to take it back.
