📍 Highlights from Constituency Day

Yesterday was another meaningful day of service as I had the opportunity to sit with constituents, listen to your concerns, discuss the issues affecting you and your families, and work toward practical solutions.

I continue to value these one-on-one conversations because effective representation begins with listening, understanding and taking action.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to visit and speak with me. Whether the matter is personal or affects an entire community, your concerns matter, and my team and I remain committed to following up and assisting wherever we can.

It remains an honour to serve the people of Tabaquite, and together, we will continue working to move our constituency forward. 🇹🇹🤝

Yesterday was an important day for Trinidad and Tobago as I joined Prime Minister the Honourable Kamla Persad-Bissessar, SC, MP in welcoming United States Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau and his delegation for high-level engagements aimed at further strengthening the longstanding partnership between our two nations.

Our engagements went beyond dialogue, with significant progress being advanced in energy, trade, investment, security, technology, health and regional cooperation.

Among the major developments were proposed investments at Point Lisas, progress on the Manakin-Cocuina cross-border gas development, and continued discussions surrounding Trinidad and Tobago’s long-term energy security and economic growth. These initiatives have the potential to translate stronger international relationships into investment, jobs and greater opportunities for our people.

The visit also provided an opportunity to share the warmth, culture and hospitality of Trinidad and Tobago with our guests while reaffirming the friendship that continues to unite our nations.

As Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, I am proud to play my part in advancing a foreign policy that is active, purposeful and focused on delivering tangible benefits for Trinidad and Tobago.

Stronger relationships. Greater opportunities. A more prosperous Trinidad and Tobago. 🇹🇹🇺🇸

Earlier today, I had the pleasure of welcoming United States Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau upon his arrival at the Piarco International Airport. Also present to receive the Deputy Secretary was U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Philip Kern.

Deputy Secretary Landau’s official visit to Trinidad and Tobago from 9–10 August 2026 represents another important opportunity to deepen the longstanding relationship between our two nations and advance cooperation on areas of mutual interest.

I look forward to the engagements ahead as we continue strengthening our bilateral partnership and pursuing opportunities that serve the interests of Trinidad and Tobago and our people. 🇹🇹🤝🇺🇸

Kamla set for crucial talks as senior US Deputy Secretary of State arrives in T&T

United States Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau is set to arrive in Trinidad and Tobago on Sunday for a high-level two-day visit expected to place relations between Port of Spain and Washington under renewed focus.

Landau will be in the country from Sunday August 9 to 10, 2026, with Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar scheduled to lead discussions with the senior US official.

The visit comes as the Trinidad and Tobago Government seeks to strengthen its relationship with the United States and turn increased cooperation between both countries into what it says will be practical benefits for the population.

According to the Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, Landau's visit signals progress in efforts to deepen Trinidad and Tobago's alliances with the United States.

The ministry said the discussions will focus on advancing cooperation and translating the stronger relationship between the two countries into tangible opportunities.

Persad-Bissessar is expected to spearhead the talks as the Government continues its efforts to expand Trinidad and Tobago's engagement with Washington.

The Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs said the Government remains committed to ensuring that closer cooperation with the United States produces "meaningful and lasting benefits" for the people of Trinidad and Tobago.

Landau's visit is therefore expected to be closely watched, given the importance of the US-Trinidad and Tobago relationship and the potential for expanded cooperation in areas of mutual interest.— Story by I.A.N News

Strengthening the Enduring Friendship Between Trinidad and Tobago and Japan 🇹🇹🇯🇵

Today, I had the honour of receiving His Excellency Toshimitsu Motegi, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, during his official one-day visit to Trinidad and Tobago.

The occasion began with a special flag-raising ceremony, followed by bilateral discussions focused on expanding cooperation in key areas including trade, energy, disaster management, water, and youth development.

This visit represents another important chapter in the longstanding relationship between our two nations, built on more than six decades of diplomatic ties, mutual respect, and meaningful cooperation.

I was particularly pleased to welcome Minister Motegi to Trinidad and Tobago as we reaffirmed our commitment to deepening this valued partnership and pursuing new opportunities that can deliver tangible benefits for our people.

We look forward to continuing to work closely with Japan as we strengthen our friendship and advance our shared interests. 🇹🇹🤝🇯🇵
