At Weerawong, Chinnavat & Partners, we believe that developing the next generation of legal professionals is an important investment in the future of our profession.

As our Summer Internship Programme came to a close, we were delighted to celebrate the achievements of our interns as they presented their final projects, reflecting on the knowledge, experience and insights they gained throughout their time with the firm.

During the closing ceremony, the interns shared thoughtful reflections on their experience before receiving their certificates of completion. We then celebrated together over dinner, bowling and a little friendly competition—a fitting way to conclude an enjoyable and rewarding summer.

To all of our interns, thank you for your enthusiasm, curiosity and commitment throughout the programme. We hope your time with us has been both rewarding and memorable, and we wish you every success as you continue your legal journey. We look forward to following your future achievements.

Cross-border insolvency is becoming increasingly significant as businesses, lenders and investors continue to operate across multiple ASEAN jurisdictions.

As cross-border restructurings become more common, effective communication and cooperation between courts are essential to reducing procedural uncertainty and promoting the efficient administration of insolvency proceedings.

We were pleased that our Senior Partner, Sakchai Limsiripothong, participated as a panellist at the Second ALA-CACJ Meeting of ASEAN Insolvency Judges and Practitioners held in Bangkok, alongside Judge Kanok Jullamon (Thailand), Judge Tita Tankanitlert (Thailand), Justice Ahmad Fairuz (Malaysia), Justice Aidan Xu (Singapore), and Ms Debby Sulaiman (Indonesia). The meeting brought together judges and insolvency practitioners from across ASEAN to exchange views on practical issues arising in cross-border insolvency proceedings and developments in regional judicial cooperation.

A principal topic of discussion was the proposed Model Framework for Communication and Cooperation between ASEAN Courts in Cross-Border Insolvency Proceedings. The Framework is intended to facilitate communication and cooperation between courts in appropriate cases while respecting the domestic insolvency laws and judicial procedures of each participating jurisdiction.

What does a career at a leading law firm really look like?

We had the pleasure of welcoming students from the Asian Law Students’ Association, Kasetsart University (ALSA KU), for an immersive introduction to life at one of Thailand’s leading full-service law firms.

The visit gave students a deeper understanding of WCP’s practice and the role a full-service law firm plays in supporting clients across a broad range of industries and legal matters. They also explored the diverse career opportunities available at the firm and learned how our collaborative culture, commitment to excellence and emphasis on continuous learning shape the way we work and develop our people.

The programme also featured an experience-sharing session led by Senior Partner Sakchai Limsiripothong and Partner Peerapat Kumpayorm, with support from Associates Sirapop Suathongkum and Ketsirin Wisetwatcharawong. Together, they shared their career journeys, practical insights and candid reflections on the realities of legal practice, offering students valuable guidance as they prepare for their own careers. The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, where students had the opportunity to discuss career planning, professional development and the transition from law school to practice.

It was a pleasure to engage with such enthusiastic and talented future lawyers. We hope the visit provided valuable insights into the legal profession, helped demystify life at a leading law firm, and inspired the students as they take the next steps in their legal careers.

Knowing the law is only the beginning.

At a recent Friday Café session, our Senior Partner, Weerawong Chittmittrapap, took an innovative approach to professional development by using selected scenes from the popular Netflix series The Evil Lawyer as the basis for an interactive discussion on litigation advocacy and courtroom practice.

The session explored practical aspects of litigation, including court procedure, the presentation of evidence, the examination and cross-examination of witnesses, and how courts assess and weigh evidence. Through carefully selected courtroom scenes from The Evil Lawyer, our Senior Partner Weerawong Chittmittrapap illustrated how a thorough understanding of these principles can significantly influence the presentation of a client's case and, ultimately, its outcome.

The discussion reinforced an important lesson: success in litigation depends not only on knowing the law, but also on understanding how evidence is properly presented, tested and evaluated throughout the judicial process.

It also highlighted the importance of critical thinking, logical reasoning, strategic questioning and persuasive advocacy — skills that enable lawyers to analyse complex issues, present their client's case effectively and support the proper administration of justice.

At Weerawong C&P, continuous learning and the sharing of practical experience are integral to our culture. Through initiatives such as our Friday Café and Practice Group training sessions, our senior lawyers invest in developing the next generation of outstanding lawyers.

Strong cross-border relationships are built over time.

Following the recent launch of our Japan Desk, our team spent a rewarding week in Tokyo meeting with some of Japan’s leading law firms — one of the Desk’s first major initiatives and an important step in strengthening our relationships with the Japanese legal and business community.

During the visit, we exchanged perspectives on recent market developments, approaches to complex cross-border transactions, and the evolving legal and regulatory landscape across Asia.

More importantly, it was an opportunity to reconnect with long-standing friends, build new relationships and deepen the professional networks that underpin successful cross-border collaboration. For our clients, these relationships support closer coordination, smoother communication and trusted legal assistance across jurisdictions.

We returned to Bangkok with fresh perspectives, stronger relationships and renewed enthusiasm for future collaboration.

Our sincere thanks to all the partners and teams who welcomed us so warmly. We look forward to continuing to work together through our Japan Desk to support Japanese clients investing in Thailand, Thai clients expanding into Japan, and clients with broader cross-border matters across the region.

A special thank you to:

As legal practice becomes increasingly international, collaboration between leading law firms and universities plays an increasingly important role in developing the next generation of legal professionals.

We were delighted to welcome Mr. Swapnil S. Bhosale, Deputy General Manager (Office of Ranking, Benchmarking and Institutional Transformation), and Ms. Priyanka Sharma, Senior Manager (Office of Academic Governance), from O.P. Jindal Global University—India's No. 1 ranked law school—to our office to exchange ideas and explore opportunities for future collaboration.

Our discussions covered academic governance, legal education and professional development, reflecting our shared interest in preparing lawyers for an increasingly global and interconnected legal profession.

We were particularly honoured to be invited to participate in the Global Lawyers Fellowship Programme, a fully funded programme that brings together emerging legal professionals from across Asia to exchange ideas, develop practical skills and build cross-border professional networks.

We sincerely thank Mr. Bhosale and Ms. Sharma for visiting our firm and look forward to strengthening our collaboration with O.P. Jindal Global University in the years ahead.

At Weerawong, Chinnavat & Partners, we believe that preparing the next generation of legal professionals requires close collaboration between academia and legal practice.

As part of this commitment, our Senior Partner, Sakchai Limsiripothong, together with Associates Sirapop Suathongkum and Sorravich Prarom, have served as lecturers for the Criminal Procedure Law class for second-year students in the Bachelor of Laws, Experiential Learning in Business and Tech Law (LLBel) (International Program) at the Faculty of Law, Chulalongkorn University, for two consecutive years.

In addition to our teaching role, we are proud to have welcomed LLBel students to our firm as part of the Externship Program held from February 2, 2026 to April 3, 2026, providing them with the opportunity to experience the realities of legal practice firsthand.

Following the completion of the Criminal Procedure Law class and the Externship Program, we had the pleasure of attending the Faculty’s consultation dinner.

The discussion focused on strengthening externship experiences, identifying the competencies expected of future law graduates, and exploring how legal education can continue to evolve alongside the profession.

We are grateful to the Faculty of Law, Chulalongkorn University, for bringing together legal practitioners and educators to exchange ideas and help shape the future of legal education.

We look forward to continuing this partnership and supporting the development of future lawyers in Thailand.
