📢 Important Update: New Asylum Eligibility Rules in Canada.
To maintain a fair and efficient immigration system, the Canadian government has implemented a new "One-Year Rule" effective June 3, 2025. If you or someone you know is seeking protection, the claim must be filed within one year of the first arrival in Canada. Waiting longer may result in the claim being ineligible for an IRB hearing. Stay informed and act within the legal timelines. 🇨🇦

BREAKING UPDATE on Canada’s Express Entry System – 2026 Changes Announced! 🇨🇦
Canada just unveiled major updates to the Express Entry permanent residence selection system, prioritizing top talent and critical occupations to meet evolving economic and labour needs in 2026. This is crucial news for immigrants and skilled workers planning to move to Canada!

What’s New in Express Entry 2026:
Three new priority categories introduced:
• Researchers & Senior Managers — Candidates with Canadian work experience in roles like university professors, research assistants, and senior leadership positions.
• Transport Occupations — Skilled workers such as pilots, auto & truck mechanics, aircraft mechanics, and avionics technicians now get priority selection.
• Skilled Military Recruits — Highly skilled military professionals with Canadian Armed Forces job offers (e.g., military doctors, nurses, pilots).
These categories aim to attract highly skilled professionals and support Canada’s defence, innovation, transport, and leadership sectors.

Work Experience Requirements Updated:
• The minimum work experience for all occupational categories has increased to 12 months (up from 6 months).
• Experience must be gained within the past three years — continuity of experience is no longer required.

Additional Highlights:
The first draw under the Physicians with Canadian work experience category (introduced December 2025) is happening this week.
Established categories like French-language proficiency, health care & social services, and trades will continue to be prioritized.
The agriculture and agri-food category has been retired.

These changes are part of Canada’s broader strategy to attract targeted skilled talent, support economic growth, strengthen national priorities like defence and transportation, and keep immigration levels sustainable.

Key Takeaway:
If you’re a skilled worker with Canadian work experience in research, leadership, transport, health, or military occupations, this updated Express Entry system significantly improves your chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residence

One System. Two Realities. 🇨🇦
In 2026, your location determines your Express Entry strategy. Are you playing the Inside Game or the Outside Game?
INSIDE CANADA: Focus on CEC (508 CRS), Physician draws (169 CRS), or Senior Management (429 CRS).
OUTSIDE CANADA: Focus on French-language proficiency (397 CRS), Healthcare (467 CRS), or upcoming STEM/Trades draws.

Are Canadian Private Colleges going “BANKRUPT”?

International student numbers are down, and colleges are FEELING IT.

Two major institutions - Loyalist College (Belleville) and Northern College (Timmins), are now facing severe financial collapse.

📉 Massive Revenue Losses Ahead
• Loyalist could lose up to 60% of its revenue by 2030
• Northern College is expecting a 35% drop
• These reports were conducted by Deloitte & KPMG for the Ontario government

Colleges were heavily dependent on international tuition to survive — and now the cracks are showing.

💸 Projected Deficits
• Loyalist: From $28M to $41M deficit within five years
→ Even after cuts, still facing a $30M shortfall
• Northern College: From $8M surplus in 2025 to a possible $8M deficit by 2030

👥 Jobs on the Line
• Nearly 10,000 college staff already lost jobs or expected to
• Thousands of support staff went on strike in Sept 2025
→ Demanding job security & freeze on layoffs
→ Employers say demands are “unreasonable”

🏫 It’s Not Just Two Colleges

At least 14 Ontario colleges (including Durham, Fanshawe & Sault College) are in the same boat.

Northern’s international tuition revenue was $30M in 2023–24
➡️ Expected to fall to $8.6M by 2027–28

⚠️ Experts Warn:
Colleges that grew fast by relying on international students may not survive at current levels.

Do you think colleges should have relied so heavily on international tuition? Who’s to blame, the institutions or government policy?
