NBI Director Atty. Melvin A. Matibag welcomed the municipal mayors of Laguna during their courtesy call at the National Bureau of Investigation Headquarters on August 19, 2026.

The courtesy call brought together local chief executives from various municipalities in Laguna, providing an avenue to strengthen coordination and deepen cooperation between the NBI and local government units in addressing concerns on peace and order, public safety, and law enforcement.

During the meeting, Director Matibag emphasized the importance of close collaboration between national law enforcement agencies and local governments in ensuring that government services remain responsive and that communities are kept safe and secure.

The courtesy call was attended by the municipal mayors of Rizal, Paete, Alaminos, Liliw, Nagcarlan, Pila, Bay, Famy, Lumban, Majayjay, Los Baños, Kalayaan, Mabitac, Paakil, Pangil, Pagsanjan, Cabuyao, Siniloan, and Magdalena, together with their respective officials and representatives.

The NBI, under the leadership of Director Matibag, continues to foster strong partnerships with local government units and other stakeholders toward a more coordinated, effective, and citizen-centered approach to public service and law enforcement.

NBI EXPANDS ITS REACH: DISTRICT OFFICE SET TO RISE IN CATANDUANES

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), under the leadership of Director Atty. Melvin A. Matibag, continues to strengthen its presence across the country with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Catanduanes Governor Hon. Patrick Alain T. Ananza.

The agreement paves the way for the establishment of an NBI District Office in Catanduanes, bringing the Bureau’s investigative, law enforcement, and public services closer to communities in the province.

The initiative forms part of the NBI’s continuing efforts to expand its nationwide reach, enhance accessibility, and bring government services closer to every Filipino.

The MOA was signed on August 5, 2026, at the NBI Headquarters.
