Someone offered you a Canada job for a fee? Check this first.

In Canada, only authorized representatives can charge you for immigration help. That includes licensed consultants (RCICs) and lawyers.

Here's how to check a consultant in 2 minutes:

Go to the public register of the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants (CICC).

Search their name or licence number.

Make sure the licence shows as active.

Walk away if you see any of these:
A guaranteed job or visa.
A fee to "reserve" a job offer.
No licence number anywhere.

Our consultant is Amelia Ajoc, RCIC, licence . Check it yourself. Then meet her live tomorrow at our free Francophone Mobility webinar, with Joey Moreno guiding the Q&A.

Friday, October 23, 1:00 PM ADT (Halifax time).

French speakers were invited at 435. The CEC draw the day before needed 519.

On October 16, IRCC invited 5,000 Express Entry candidates with French-language skills to apply for permanent residence. The lowest score invited was 435.

On October 15, a Canadian Experience Class draw needed 519. That's an 84-point gap.

2 more things to know this week:

Starting November 3, Canada adds CRS points for job offers in 186 higher-paying occupations, and those job offers won't need an LMIA.

While scores are recalculated, IRCC says it will pause Express Entry invitations. That may take up to 2 weeks.

French helps at the PR stage. It can also help you get to Canada first. The Francophone Mobility work permit lets employers outside Quebec hire French speakers without an LMIA.

This Friday, our licensed RCIC walks you through who qualifies and what to prepare.

🇨🇦 Applying for a Canadian Work Permit? Check These 5 Mistakes Before You Submit.

Canadian Dreamers, preparation matters. Before clicking “submit,” review these common application pitfalls:

❌ Missing documents
✅ Follow your IRCC checklist and any additional visa office instructions.

❌ Dates and details that don’t match
✅ Double-check your forms, employment history, and supporting documents. Explain any discrepancies.

❌ Not showing you meet the job requirements
✅ Include relevant evidence of your experience, education, and qualifications.

❌ Using someone else’s application as your guide
✅ Check the requirements for your specific work permit category.

❌ Leaving out previous refusals when asked
✅ Answer honestly and provide the requested details—even if someone else prepares your application.

Your Canadian dream deserves careful preparation. Start with a clear understanding of your application.

🇨🇦 Your documents tell your story. Do the details add up?

Canadian Dreamers, before submitting your work permit application, ask yourself:

✅ Are my details consistent?
Check names, dates and employment history across your forms and documents.

✅ Have I supported my claims?
Include relevant evidence of the experience and qualifications you mention.

✅ Have I explained discrepancies?
Explain gaps or conflicting details honestly—don’t leave the reader guessing.

✅ Are my documents readable and complete?
Check for blurry scans, missing pages and required translations.

✅ Did I follow my own checklist?
Use your personalized IRCC checklist and applicable visa office instructions.

A clear application starts with accurate information and supporting evidence.

🇨🇦 Work Permit Visa Refused? Understand Your Refusal Letter

A refusal can feel discouraging. Your first step? Understand why it happened before applying again.

The reasons may include:

📄 Missing documents or unclear information
💰 Not enough proof of financial support
💼 Insufficient proof of your qualifications for the job
🏠 Concerns about whether you will leave Canada when your authorized stay ends

Read the reasons carefully, identify what needs to be addressed, and gather supporting evidence. Submitting the same application again may not change the outcome.

📅 Book an appointment with our licensed immigration consultant, Ms. Amelia Ajoc, to discuss your refusal and possible next steps—or join our webinar to learn more.
