Bingo sa Barangay: No PAGCOR Permit Needed! ⚖️🏠

Kinatigan ng Supreme Court ang karapatan ng mga barangay na magdaos ng "Bingo sa Barangay" bilang fundraising activity para sa kanilang mga proyekto nang hindi na nangangailangan ng permit mula sa PAGCOR o anumang ahensya ng gobyerno. Ayon sa SC, sa ilalim ng Local Government Code of 1991, ang mga barangay ay may awtonomiya at kapangyarihang mag-generate ng sariling pondo, basta't ang mga aktibidad na ito ay sumusunod sa national standards ng moralidad at kaligtasan. Binigyang-diin ng korte na ang pagkilala sa kapangyarihang ito ay pagbibigay-buhay sa utos ng Konstitusyon na patatagin ang lokal na awtonomiya ng mga barangay bilang basic political units ng bansa.

​Sa ilalim ng Artikulo 87 ng Family Code, ang anumang donasyon o regalo sa pagitan ng mag-asawa habang sila ay kasal ay walang bisa (o ituturing na ilegal), maliban sa mga katamtamang regalong nakasanayang ibigay ng mag-asawa sa isa't isa sa okasyon ng anumang pagdiriwang o salu-salo ng pamilya; umiiral ang pagbabawal na ito upang protektahan ang conjugal partnership (o ang ari-arian ng mag-asawa) laban sa hindi nararapat na impluwensya, panloloko, o pagsasamantala ng isang asawa sa kabilang asawa, tinitiyak na ang ari-ariang naipon sa panahon ng kasal ay pinamamahalaan nang magkasama at pantay.

Life Imprisonment: Hustisya para sa mga Minors na biktima ng Trafficking!

Kelan humihinto ang Deadline sa pagdedemanda?

Nilinaw ng Supreme Court na ang prescriptive period o deadline sa paghahain ng kaso ay humihinto na sa sandaling mai-file ang complaint sa DOJ—hindi na kailangang hintayin na makarating pa ito sa korte. 🛑

Bakit ito mahalaga?
Iwas-Delay: Hindi dapat maperwisyo ang biktima sa bagal ng imbestigasyon na wala naman sa kanyang kontrol. ⏳

Summary Procedure: Kahit sa maliliit na krimen (gaya ng traffic violations o tax offenses), sapat na ang pag-file sa prosecutor para mapigilan ang pag-expire ng kaso.
