The ASEAN Leaders’ Declaration on the ASEAN Human Rights Dialogue on 5 September 2023 tasks the AICHR to establish a common understanding on promoting and protecting human rights in ASEAN and develop strategies to support the promotion of human rights and fundamental freedoms.

Ahead of the upcoming 6th ASEAN Human Rights Dialogue on 5 November, the Representative of Malaysia to the AICHR, Edmund Bon, met with Abelian Prajnya Yodha, Minister Counsellor (Political Affairs) of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Kuala Lumpur.

Also present were Ayu Sari from the Embassy and Umavathni Vathanaganthan from AICHR Malaysia.

The Representative of Malaysia to the AICHR, Edmund Bon, is in Manila for the ASEAN Dialogue on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) General Comment No. 26. This AICHR programme led by the Philippines is being held from 2 to 3 October 2024.
