🌍 Inn-Salzach Euregio strengthens cross-border cooperation with the success of “BorderLabs CE” 🤝

The Inn-Salzach Euregio continues to work towards a more connected border region! 🌍🤝

At its latest board meeting on 18 June 2026, the successful completion of the EU-funded “BorderLabs CE” project was highlighted. 🎉 The project helped identify and address legal and administrative barriers that affect cross-border cooperation, while also supporting better information exchange for cross-border commuters and stronger cooperation between authorities. 💬🏛️

The results confirm that removing barriers requires long-term commitment, strong partnerships, and continued collaboration across borders.

🌍 BorderLabs CE final event in Brussels
Today, the BorderLabs CE project held its final event, “Towards a Central European Territorial Agenda?”, as a side event of the European Cross-Border Platform Annual Meeting 2026 in Brussels.
The conference brought together policymakers, experts, researchers and cross-border practitioners to reflect on how territorial integration in Central Europe can be strengthened through strategic planning, participatory governance and the removal of legal and administrative obstacles.
Through three inspiring round-table discussions, participants explored:
✔️ the need for a new spatial vision for Central Europe
✔️ the role of dialogue and participation in cross-border governance
✔️ practical ways to overcome obstacles in border regions
A key moment of the event was the presentation and launch of the Charter for a more integrated Central Europe and the related network, opening the way for future cooperation beyond the project.
Many thanks to all speakers, participants and partners who contributed to this meaningful exchange!

A more detailed article will be published soon on the website of the project.

Dialogue Beyond Borders: Double Cities Dialogue Forum II

Just ahead of the closing conference of the BorderLabs CE project, 25 participants from three European double cities came together in Frankfurt (Oder) for the 2nd Dialogue Forum. 🇪🇺🤝

Over two inspiring days, they engaged in open and respectful discussions on migration, the war in Ukraine, rising nationalism, military spending, social polarisation, and the role of the media. The goal was not to agree on everything—but to learn how to listen and build dialogue across borders. 💬🌍

🌍 The Double Cities Dialogue Forum enters its second round!

After the successful first edition in 2025, the “BorderLabs” project returns with a new and urgent question:

👉 How can we move beyond simply dealing with differences — and start having constructive conversations about disagreements?

This year’s Forum brings together citizens from European double cities including Frankfurt–Słubice, Esztergom–Štúrovo, and Gorizia–Nova Gorica to explore how dialogue can help bridge growing social, political, and cultural divides across Europe.

Participants will experience:
✔️ Guided dialogue sessions
✔️ Small group discussions
✔️ Interactive formats & reflection exercises
✔️ Cross-border networking and cultural exchange

📍 Venue: Kleist Forum, Frankfurt (Oder) / Słubice
📅 28–29 May 2026

In a time of hardening borders and worldviews, creating spaces for meaningful dialogue matters more than ever.

🌉 What makes a cross-border region truly work?
On 12-13 May, the partners of the BorderLabs CE project travelled to Copenhagen and Malmö to explore one of Europe’s most well-known cross-border metropolitan regions: the Öresund region. 🇩🇰🇸🇪
The study visit showed that successful cross-border integration is not built by infrastructure alone. The Öresund Bridge is a powerful symbol but everyday cross-border life also depends on:
🤝 long-term political cooperation
🧭 reliable information services for citizens and businesses
⚖️ continuous management of legal and administrative obstacles
🚆 integrated labour markets and mobility
🌱 shared strategies for resilience, innovation and green transition

💡 For BorderLabs CE, the key message is clear: cross-border cooperation works best when institutions, services and people are connected. Read more:
