We are delighted to share that Coyne Solicitors has been shortlisted as a finalist in nine categories at the LEAP Irish Law Awards 2026.

This includes seven firm categories, recognising the hard work, dedication and client-focused approach of our entire team across a number of practice areas, including property law, civil litigation, personal injury and medical negligence, corporate and commercial law, innovation, client service, and diversity and inclusion.

We are also extremely proud that our Principal Solicitor, Andrea Clarke, has been shortlisted in two individual categories:

• Dublin Lawyer of the Year
• Dublin Sole Principal of the Year

To be recognised across nine categories is a fantastic achievement for the firm and a reflection of the commitment, professionalism and hard work of everyone at Coyne Solicitors.

Congratulations to our team and to all of the other finalists. We look forward to the awards in June.

We are delighted to share that Coyne Solicitors has been selected to be part of the Probate E-Pilot Scheme. This allows us to submit probate applications online.

This is a positive development for our clients, as it is expected to significantly reduce the time required to extract a Grant of Probate. Previously, probate applications could often take approximately 12–14 weeks from the date of lodgement.

Under the new online process, timelines may be reduced to approximately 4–9 weeks, depending on the circumstances of each application and the Court’s processing times.

At Coyne Solicitors, we are always looking for ways to make the legal process more efficient and accessible, with faster turnaround times for our clients.

If you require assistance with probate or estate administration, our team would be happy to help.

Please note that, at this time, the online process is only available for testate applications.

Our Principal Solicitor, Andrea Clarke, as Deputy President of South Dublin Chamber was delighted to attend a fantastic corporate event hosted by South Dublin Chamber in collaboration with the Irish Air Corps.

It was a valuable opportunity to hear an engaging and insightful address from Brigadier Rory O’Connor, with key discussions focusing on the growing importance of cybersecurity as a core strategic priority. The conversation highlighted the critical role of collaboration, resilience, and shared responsibility in strengthening digital and defense capabilities across Europe.

Events like these provide an excellent opportunity to connect with industry leaders, share perspectives, and reinforce the commitment to innovation and security.

We would like to thank South Dublin Chamber and the Irish Air Corps for hosting such a well-organised and insightful event.

On 26 March 2026, the Court of Appeal issued guidance on the use of Artificial Intelligence (“AI”) in the Irish courts for the first time. In Guerin v O’Doherty [2005] IECA 48, the President of the Court of Appeal outlined five guiding principles for parties intending to use AI while preparing for their case.

Principles
The Court outlined five general principles on the use of AI in Irish litigation:
- Parties can use AI to assist in carrying out research for their case, provided they do so responsibly and do not, even inadvertently, mislead the Court
-Parties must expressly inform the other side and the Court if they have used AI
- A self-represented party is responsible for the ultimate written or oral work in their case, to the same extent as the lawyers representing parties are so responsible
- Any party using AI must independently verify the accuracy of their submissions and the authorities cited
- A party must not cite any authority unless they have verified that it is a genuine judgment of the court and that it supports the proposition for which it is cited.

🏡 New Home Launches This Weekend – Lucan & Dublin 15

Exciting activity in the property market this weekend with two new developments launching:
📍 Canal Gardens, Dublin 15 – a collection of 3 & 4 bedroom homes in a well-connected waterside setting
📍 Fenwood Park, Lucan – modern A-rated 2, 3 & 4 bedroom homes within walking distance of Lucan Village

With demand for new builds remaining high, buyers should be mindful of the legal process involved — from booking deposits and contracts to timelines and closing conditions.

At Coyne Solicitors, we regularly guide clients through new home purchases, ensuring everything is reviewed properly and that transactions proceed smoothly from start to finish.

What are intellectual property rights?

Intellectual property (IP) refers to creations of the mind — such as designs, logos, written content, software, and ideas developed in a business or creative setting.

In simple terms, IP rights determine who owns and controls how that work is used.

Many people assume that if they created something, they automatically own it. However, this is not always the case — especially in employment or collaborative environments.

Understanding your IP rights is essential to avoid disputes and protect your work.

📩 If you are unsure about ownership of your work, we are here to help.
