We seem to have seen a number of these types of collisions recently.
The motorcyclist has been following this van for some time.
The van comes to a stop and the driver then proceeds to reverse into the motorcyclist sitting behind.
The driver's insurer initially tried to blame the motorcyclist and denied responsibility until they saw the dashcam footage.
ALL drivers should be aware of other vehicles around them at all times and continually check in their rear mirrors.

FAILURE BY LANDOWNER TO MAINTAIN TREES ON ROAD BOUNDARY LEADS TO DEATH OF 18 YEAR OLD HARRY

Harry was only 18 years old when his life was tragically cut short after his motorcycle struck a fallen tree lying across a public road.

Investigations later revealed that no tree management plans or risk assessments were in place.

No compensation can ever replace Harry, but his family continue to seek answers and hope lessons can be learned to better protect road users in future.

Sorry to read about a collision last Friday in where a motorcyclist sadly lost his life.

This brings the number of motorcycling fatalities in 2026 to 5 which is considerably less than the 16 who were killed by end of May 2025.

🏍️ Dangerous overbanding caused this rider to crash on the A939 in the Scottish Highlands.

Steven was touring Scotland with friends on his BMW R1250 GSA when his front wheel suddenly lost grip on excessive road sealant while exiting a bend near Grantown-on-Spey. The bike went down instantly, leaving him badly injured.

Our investigations uncovered that the overbanding measured 60mm wide, significantly above the 40mm limit permitted under industry regulations.

We raised Court proceedings against Highland Council and instructed expert engineering evidence. With trial approaching and overwhelming evidence against them, the defenders finally agreed a five-figure settlement.

This case highlights the very real danger road defects pose to motorcyclists across Scotland.
