🏍️ £20,000 OFFERED. ALMOST THREE TIMES MORE SECURED.

When Ryan was knocked off his Harley-Davidson by a distracted driver, he suffered a serious leg fracture requiring multiple surgeries.

Unable to work and facing mounting financial pressure, Ryan was vulnerable.

The driver's insurer knew this and made an early offer of £20,000 to settle his claim BEFORE the full extent of his injuries was known.

Then came offers of £25,000 and £30,000.

Motorcycle Law Scotland refused to back down.

We investigated the long-term consequences of Ryan's injuries, obtained specialist medical evidence and raised court proceedings.

The result? A settlement worth almost THREE TIMES the original offer.

We’re delighted to announce that Motorcycle Law Scotland is supporting and a sponsor of the Bike and Brew Passport Event 2027, an annual charity event by MAKE YOUR MARK.

It’s a brilliant concept: get out on the bike, explore some of Scotland’s best roads, discover great independent venues for a ‘brew’, and collect your passport stamps along the way - all while raising money for charity! 🙌

As bikers ourselves, this is exactly the kind of initiative we love to get behind — supporting the motorcycling community, encouraging riders to get out and explore, and giving local businesses across Scotland a boost.

🏍️ WATCH THE DASHCAM – WHO WAS RESPONSIBLE?

Our client was riding his Honda CBR650 along Liberton Road in Edinburgh when a car emerged through queuing traffic and into his path.

The impact was devastating. He was thrown around 25 metres and suffered multiple fractures, internal injuries and a serious degloving injury. He required multiple operations and continues to live with the consequences.

Our client was travelling at 40mph in a 30mph limit and was convicted of careless driving.

The driver's insurer initially denied liability, maintaining that our client's speed was the sole cause of the collision.

But was it really that simple?

The dashcam footage was important. The car did not edge slowly forward as initially claimed. It emerged in one continuous movement through queuing traffic which restricted the driver's view.

Our client accepted his share of responsibility. But speeding does not necessarily absolve another road user of negligence.

The claim ultimately settled on a split-liability basis, reflecting the actions of both parties.

⚖️ Criminal responsibility and civil liability are not the same thing.

Cases like this demonstrate why liability following a motorcycle collision can be far more complex than it first appears and why specialist motorcycle legal knowledge matters.

🏍️ Rain didn’t stop play at Rebz! 🌧️🙌

Great to catch up with familiar faces, meet plenty of new ones, and be part of another cracking day in the Scottish biking community.
