Black History Month so far at Setfords!

October is Black History Month, and we’ve been marking the occasion at Setfords HQ with a programme celebrating Black culture, food and local businesses.

Each week, our Diversity Champions and bistro team are shining a spotlight on a different cuisine, so far we've had flavours from Nigeria and Ethiopia! 🇳🇬🇪🇹

We also kicked things off with an Afro-Caribbean cooking class led by Mercy Gent-Randall from our bistro team, who also runs her own business, Picky Tings. Our people had the chance to get hands-on, explore new flavours and create their own sauces.

Yesterday, we welcomed Guildford-based, mother-and-daughter-owned luxury fragrance studio House of Mahogany for an evening of scent blending and candle-making, alongside a pop-up shop showcasing their handcrafted products.

We’re looking forward to the rest of the month!

Last week, we were joined by Breast Cancer Now for an important talk as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. 💗

We learnt more about breast cancer, the signs and symptoms to look out for, and why understanding your risk matters. A huge thank you to the Breast Cancer Now team for joining us and sharing such important information with our people.

From 1 October 2026, employees have longer to bring a claim against their employer at an employment tribunal.

An employment tribunal decides disputes about employment rights, such as unfair dismissal, discrimination and unpaid wages. Until now, most claims had to be made within three months. As part of the Employment Rights Act 2025, that deadline is now six months for all types of claim. It’s an important change for both employers and employees to be aware of.

Our Macmillan Coffee Morning has become a tradition at Setfords, and it was great to see our people getting involved again today.

There was plenty of cake, lots of generous donations and, most importantly, money raised for a great cause.
