Stamp Duty Changes from 1st April 2025 – Key Updates for Homebuyers

From 1st April 2025, the Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) rates will change as the temporary tax relief introduced in 2022 comes to an end.

Key Changes:
- Standard Residential Rates: No SDLT on properties up to £125,000, with rates increasing up to 12% for properties over £1.5 million.
- First-Time Buyers: No SDLT on purchases up to £300,000, with a 5% rate applied to amounts between £300,001 and £500,000. Properties above £500,000 will be subject to standard rates.
