Could your business be liable for a Right to Work breach involving someone you don't directly employ?

That's one of the key questions raised by significant changes to the Right to Work regime. Businesses using contractors, subcontractors, labour supply chains or substitution arrangements may need to take a closer look at their processes and contractual arrangements.

Gurjit Pall and Daniel McKaveney from our immigration law team explain what is changing and the steps businesses should be taking now to prepare.

The summer show season came to a close for our Rural team last Thursday at the The Argyllshire Gathering Oban Games.

As proud sponsors of the event, it was a pleasure to spend the day in Oban catching up with familiar faces, meeting new connections, and celebrating the strength of our rural community.

We were blessed with beautiful weather, enjoyed watching superb competitive spirit, and were delighted to meet everyone who popped over to our stand to say 'hello'.

Congratulations to the organisers, volunteers and everyone involved in putting together another fantastic day! 🌾

Following the sad news this week of Dolly Parton’s death, one of her reflections on planning ahead feels especially timely. When asked about creating a Will, her response was:

"I would not want to leave that mess to somebody else. A word to all the other artists out there: If you haven't made those provisions, do that. You don't want to leave that mess to your family for people to have to fight over. You need to take care of that yourself, even if it's a pain in the [expletive] – and it is."

A Will gives you control over what happens to your estate and can help provide clarity and reassurance for those you leave behind.

In our latest guide, Shiona Wylie explains the Will-making process in eight simple steps, from choosing executors and beneficiaries to reviewing your arrangements as circumstances change.
