What a night at the Yorkshire Legal Awards! 🏆🥂

Team CMP had a fantastic evening at the Yorkshire Legal Awards last night, celebrating alongside some of the very best in the legal profession.

Although we didn't bring home an award this year, we're incredibly proud to have been shortlisted in five categories alongside some of Yorkshire's largest, most respected and longest-established law firms.

🎉CMP Legal celebrated its fifth birthday this year, and reflecting on everything our team has achieved in that time makes this recognition even more meaningful.

We've built an exceptional team, continued to grow and established ourselves among some fantastic names in the legal sector – something we're immensely proud of.

👏A huge congratulations to all of this year's winners and finalists, and a special thank you to our brilliant team for everything they continue to achieve. 💗

🥂What a night at Network King’s Dealbreakers! 🎲

Team CMP had a fantastic evening at Genting Casino last week, supporting and sponsoring the latest Dealbreakers event alongside main sponsor John Pye.

📸We clearly spent far too much time enjoying ourselves and not enough time taking photos… although we did manage to capture what appears to be Stacey playing a solo game of hide and seek. 😂

👏 More importantly, the evening raised an incredible £3,740 for Weston Park Cancer Charity 💜

💗 A huge thank you to everyone who attended, donated and played their part in raising such a fantastic amount.

🏅And congratulations to the evening’s winners – we hope you’re enjoying your CMP bears! 🧸

A brilliant evening for a brilliant cause, and one we were very proud to support.

⏰A timely reminder for company directors… 🏢

We’ve spoken before about the new Companies House identity verification requirements, and recent enforcement action against directors who failed to meet the new requirements is a timely reminder that these obligations shouldn’t be overlooked.

The first prosecutions for identity verification offences have now resulted in three directors being fined.

👉If you’re setting up a business, becoming a director or already running a company, understanding your responsibilities from the outset is an important part of good corporate governance.

☑️Our Corporate & Commercial team can advise on company formations, business structures, directors’ responsibilities and ongoing governance.

What a day at the Chesterfield Business Expo! 💗

Team CMP had an amazing day yesterday at Casa Hotel for the Chesterfield Business Expo – Autumn 2026.

There was a fantastic atmosphere throughout the day, plenty going on and, of course, our Spin the Wheel competition proved popular! 🎡

🏆 Congratulations to our winner Andrew Ferrill and runner-up Holly Newton-Steele! We’ll be in touch with you both shortly about your prizes.

A big thank you to everyone involved in organising such a brilliant event – we thoroughly enjoyed being part of it.

🎉 Congratulations, Maya!

Today marks a very exciting milestone for Maya Woolfrey, who has officially qualified as a Solicitor! 👏

Maya joined CMP as a Paralegal and has continued to develop her career with us, progressing through her training and now taking the next step as a qualified Solicitor.

We’re incredibly proud to have watched Maya progress throughout her time at CMP – and even more pleased that she’ll be continuing her career as part of Team CMP. 💗

A huge congratulations from everyone at CMP, Maya. Very well deserved! 🥂

🎉 Three years running!

We’re proud to once again be recognised by The Legal 500, marking our third consecutive year in the rankings.

CMP Legal’s Corporate & Commercial team has been ranked Tier 3 in the Corporate and Commercial: Elsewhere in East Midlands category in the 2027 edition.

⭐ The Legal 500 rankings are independently researched, including feedback from clients and referrers, so we’re particularly proud to see comments such as:

🗨️“An amazing team that is very responsive and knowledgeable. They provide sensible commercial advice well tailored to specific situations.”🗨️

And fantastic individual recognition for Anna Cattee:

🗨️“Anna Cattee is an incredible lawyer; she really stands out from the crowd with her sensible, no-nonsense approach that gets deals done, often in difficult circumstances and timeframes.”🗨️

👏 A huge thank you to our clients, contacts and referrers who took the time to provide feedback as part of the research process. Your comments are hugely appreciated, and congratulations to everyone at CMP whose hard work has contributed to this recognition. 💗

Bereavement leave is changing from April 2027.

Losing someone close, or experiencing pregnancy loss, can be an incredibly difficult time. New employment rights are set to give employees greater protection and flexibility when they need time away from work.

Key points for employers:

▪️ A day-one right for all employees
▪️ Up to two weeks’ unpaid leave
▪️ Protection covering pregnancy loss before 24 weeks, including miscarriage, terminations and unsuccessful IVF embryo transfers
▪️ Leave can be taken flexibly within 56 weeks
▪️ No evidence of the bereavement can be required

The changes are due to come into force in April 2027, giving employers time to ensure their policies provide the right support while meeting the new requirements.

Our Employment Law team can review your existing documentation and advise on any changes needed.
