We’re excited to introduce Debasmita Bhattacharya and Joshua Xu, who have joined Walker Law as Articling Students.
Debasmita is a recent graduate of the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law, where she was an active member of the South Asian LawStudents’ Association and co-created Ex Curia, a magazine for law students. During her studies, she also gained legal experience as a Legal Intern at the Senate of Canada - Sénat du Canada. Prior to law school, Debasmita earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, Sociology, and Economics from the University of Toronto.
Joshua graduated from the University of Toronto in 2026 with a JD/MBA from the Faculty of Law and the Rotman School of Management. During law school, he contributed to research examining the legal implications of artificial intelligence in medical research in collaboration with The Mount Sinai Hospital and served as Co-President of the University of Toronto Litigation Association.
Prior to articling, Joshua gained experience in labour and employment law, assisting with employment and human rights matters. He also summered at a litigation firm representing institutional clients, where he worked on asset and credit recovery matters, including mortgage enforcement, liens, bankruptcy, and creditors’ remedies. Before law school, Joshua completed an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at the University of Waterloo.
We’re delighted to have Debasmita and Joshua join the Walker Law team and look forward to supporting them throughout their articling experience.
