REFUGEE LAW CHANGES (updated)
The newly-passed C-12 doesn't affect refugee claims made on/before June 2/25 - it only affects claims made on/after June 3/25.
* If you made a claim on/after June 3/25, and had entered Canada a year or more before the date you made your claim, your case will be moved to a different process called a "Pre-Removal Risk Assessment".
* If you entered Canada from the USA without authorization, and made a claim on/after June 3/25, your case may be moved to a different process called a "Pre-Removal Risk Assessment".
* If you already filed a claim, you need to wait until we are notified of any changes to your case.
* Everyone who has made a refugee claim, or makes one in the future, will still have a chance to show they are at risk in their country. Nothing about the change in the law removes your right to seek asylum in Canada, only the procedure.
