♦️ We are pleased to announce our fourth and final guest speaker for Women and Law, Me Robin Schiller ♦️

Robin is a partner at HHS AVOCATS, a boutique law firm with emphasis on civil and corporate law. Her areas of practice include latent defects, construction defects, tax, commercial and residential leases, elder abuse, employment law, incorporations, shareholder agreements, intellectual property protection, wills and powers of attorney.

Robin obtained her law degree from the University of Montreal and is a member of the Bar of Québec. She is co-author of "A Casebook of Quebec Business Law"Addito, an annual publication of a casebook used to teach business law to Business Administration and Commerce students at Dawson College.

She is also the former secretary of the English Speaking Section of the Bar of Montreal and a past member of the Comité des avocates dans la profession of the Bar of Montreal.

Additionally, Robin currently sits on the Montreal Bar Council and holds the position of Treasurer. She is also the President of the Comité de liaison avec la communauté LGBTQ2+ and the Director of Programming for the program Law Meets Engineering of the Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science.

The JMBLC team had the honour of meeting her lively personality at the Court of Appeals in Montreal last month.

♦️ We are pleased to announce our third guest speaker for Women and Law, Shushan Karapetyan ♦️

Shushan is a Marketing professor at the John Molson School of Business. Prior to embarking on an academic career, Shushan had a successful corporate and entrepreneurial career in fashion. She has held leadership roles in a wide range of organizations from innovative start-ups to heritage brands and multinational conglomerates. Shushan has created collections for iconic Canadian brands such as Birks Jewellers and Buffalo David Bitton (part of Li & Fung group) and developed licensed products for international household name brands such as New Balance, Victoria’s Secret, and Skechers.

She holds a master's degrees in Luxury Marketing and Product Development from the London College of Fashion (London, UK). Shushan also worked in London (UK) managing a design studio serving high profile clients such as the Royal and the Cameron Family, and celebrities such as Madonna, Victoria Beckham, and Mert & Marcus. In that role she also developed new collections for prestigious fashion houses such as Lanvin, Alexander McQueen, Prada, and Harrods.

In addition to luxury, Shushan has also worked in the mass market sector. She has developed and managed products for Costco worldwide, Walmart and even Dollarama. Her management experience spans from mass market Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) to luxury made to measure (MTM) – from Dollarama to Prada.

Nicole is the Vice President, Global Operations at Women in Governance, prior to which she has held senior leadership positions at Bombardier, RioTinto, Iron Ore Company of Canada (IOCC), FedEx Canada and Royal Bank of Canada. During her career, she has implemented and overseen all aspects of HR, from policy, programs and practices to engagement programs to improve the workplace and negotiated the first impact benefit agreements between IOCC and various indigenous communities in Labrador.

Nicole led the development of the Women in Governance’s flagship Parity Certification. This innovative certification evaluates parity at the decision-making level of organizations, as well as assesses the organization’s commitment to the implementation of mechanisms that enable women at all levels of its hierarchy to achieve career advancement, thus creating a pipeline of female talent.
