Individuals in these three situations can work in Canada without a work permit

📍Ontario’s OINP overhaul is now in effect — and key questions remain unanswered.

As of May 30, all nine current streams under the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program have lost their legal basis ❌ under new provincial immigration regulations.

Ontario has also introduced new authority for targeted draws, meaning future invitations to apply (ITAs) can be based on specific labour market or human capital criteria.

For job-offer streams, employers must now be registered with the OINP before a candidate can apply.

❓Still unclear:
• What will replace the current streams
• When new streams will launch
• What happens to current Expression of Interest (EOI) profiles
• Whether candidates will need to re-register

Ontario previously proposed a redesign of the OINP, but replacement rules and launch dates have not yet been confirmed.

One CRS range accounted for almost all recent Express Entry pool growth. 📊

Between April 26 and May 24, Canada’s Express Entry pool grew by 4,395 profiles.

The 501–600 CRS range alone added 4,085 profiles — representing 93% of the pool’s net increase during that period.

Why did this happen?

IRCC went 29 days without holding a Canadian Experience Class draw — the longest CEC pause of 2026. During that gap, high-scoring candidates continued entering the pool while none were removed through CEC-specific invitations.

When CEC draws resumed on May 27, the cut-off hit 518 — the highest CEC cut-off of 2026 so far.
