We are proud to celebrate Brian's recognition as this month's Community Champion. Thank you Shelter Nova Scotia.
This month, we’re proud to recognize Community Champion Brian Casey.
Brian is a lawyer with Boyne Clarke and has spent the past decade supporting Shelter Nova Scotia employees prepare when they’re called to testify in court.
Our employees may be called to testify to help provide context about the people we support — sharing information about a client’s progress, wellbeing, or circumstances. Their role is to help the court better understand a situation and support fair, informed decisions.
Courtrooms can feel intimidating, especially for those who have never been. Brian helps employees understand what to expect, what the court is looking for, and how to prepare. His guidance has helped build confidence, reduce stress, and ensure our team feels ready to speak clearly and professionally when it matters most.
Brian first connected with us through long-time community ties, including working alongside our CEO Linda Wilson, and has been a valued partner ever since.
When asked about our team, Brian shared, “I am impressed with the commitment the team has to getting it right and doing a good job.” And his message to others considering volunteering, “It is very deserving of your time and help.”
Thank you, Brian, for helping our employees feel prepared and empowered to support folks even in the courtroom.
