Student visa families: an important change from 2 October 2026.

A partner or child can no longer apply later to join a subclass 500 student visa holder. Unless an exception applies, family members must now be part of the student's own application.

If you are planning study in Australia with family, read this before you enrol:

From 2 October 2026 a partner or child cannot be added after a student visa is granted. Which students can still include family, and who is protected.

💡Subclass 858 - National Innovation Visa 💡

The Australian Government has introduced a new National Innovation visa, which has replaced the former 'Global Talent' visa from 6 December 2024.

This visa allows high calibre individuals to live and work in Australia, supporting the country's commitment to fostering innovation across various industries.

Eligible domains of achievement include:
- sport
- professions
- the arts
- academia and research

Key Benefits:
✅ stay in Australia permanently
✅ work and study in Australia
✅ if eligible, pathway to Australian citizenship
✅ enrol in Medicare
✅ sponsor relatives to come to Australia
✅ no age or occupation restrictions, however those under 18 years old or 55 years or older must be able to demonstrate they are of exceptional benefit to the Australian community


Eligibility
You may qualify if you:
📝 are a prominent participant in your field;
📝 will have no difficulty in obtaining employment in your field in Australia;
📝 submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to the Australian Government to be eligible
