A lot of people only really see the start and finish of the process - signing contracts and settlement day.
But there’s actually a fair bit going on in between.

𝙊𝙣 𝙖 𝙩𝙮𝙥𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙛𝙞𝙡𝙚, 𝙄’𝙢:
✅ reviewing contracts
✅ checking details that could cause issues later

NSW is currently trialing a new digital rental bond system that could make moving house a whole lot easier for tenants.

Instead of waiting for one bond to be refunded before paying the next one, the new system aims to allow eligible renters to transfer their bond from one property straight to another.

With so much happening online lately - scams, fake emails, hacked accounts, and identity theft - and with new identity and compliance changes also coming into our industry from July 1st, we thought now was a better time than ever to share a few simple tips that can help keep your information safer 👇

1️⃣𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗹, 𝗔𝗟𝗪𝗔𝗬𝗦 call the person or business directly first to verbally confirm account details. NEVER use phone numbers located on the email (hackers can change bank account details, they can also change phone numbers. Google the number). It’s NEVER an inconvenient for us when you call to check, we want you to call us!
𝗘𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗼𝗰𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀.

2️⃣ 𝗗𝗼𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗲-𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸 𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝗮𝗱𝗱𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹𝘆 - never just rely on the email address. Hackers are smart, and often the email looks correct. ALWAYS call and verbally confirm before clicking links or transferring money. It’s NEVER an inconvenience for us when you call to check; we want you to call us!

𝗦𝗰𝗮𝗺 𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗮𝗹𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴. Clicking on the sender’s name will often reveal the actual email address it came from - often scammers will use a familiar display name, but the email behind it is completely different.

3️⃣ 𝗗𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗸𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗲𝘅𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗿 𝘂𝗻𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘀.
When in doubt, go directly to the official website yourself, or contact the person or business it’s supposed to be from first.

4️⃣ 𝗨𝘀𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝘀.
If one account gets compromised, it helps protect the others.

5️⃣ 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗴𝘂𝘁.
If something feels rushed, strange, or off - stop and check first.

The recent Federal Budget has introduced some major proposed changes around property investing, negative gearing, and capital gains tax - and naturally, it’s become a big talking point across the property industry.

𝙎𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙠𝙚𝙮 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙚𝙙 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙨 𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙡𝙪𝙙𝙚:
🏡 limiting negative gearing on established properties from July 2027
🏡 changes to capital gains tax arrangements
