We keep getting asked, so here is the current position as of the latest Home Affairs update (25 August 2026).
The Philippines Work and Holiday (subclass 462) program is still not open. Australia and the Philippines signed the Memorandum of Understanding in September 2023, and both governments are still undertaking the administrative arrangements needed before the program launches. Home Affairs will publish a start date on its Working Holiday Maker latest news page when everything is finalised, along with advice on how Filipino passport holders may obtain a Letter of Concurrence.
Until that start date appears, no genuine Philippines subclass 462 application can be lodged. Please be careful with anyone asking you to pay to lodge one now.
What is genuinely available is employer sponsorship. There is a timing point worth knowing. Under Ministerial Direction 119, which took effect on 25 July 2026, healthcare occupations sit in the third priority band for applicants who are already in Australia. Applicants outside Australia sit in the final band. Occupation and location both matter for where your application sits in the queue.
