🚨 URGENT UPDATE: Iranian Visitor Visa Holders (SC600) 🚨

Our expert migration team at Cornerstone has digested the latest emergency determination from the Department of Home Affairs, and we have the breakdown you need.

Effective 26 March 2026, the Australian Government has implemented a temporary 6-month suspension on Visitor (Subclass 600) visas for Iranian passport holders currently outside Australia. You will not be allowed to travel unless an exemption applies.

🛑 Who is EXEMPT?

The news isn't bad for everyone. This rule does NOT apply to:

• Immediate family (spouse, dependent child) of an Australian citizen/permanent resident.

• Parents of minor children currently in Australia.

• Those already inside Australia when the rule started.

• Holders of an approved Permitted Travel Certificate (PTC).

How can Cornerstone help?

Need to check your status? Need help applying for a Permitted Travel Certificate if you have a genuine reason to travel?

We are specialists in all visas, with extensive experience serving clients nationwide across Australia. We help take the stress out of sudden changes like this.

📢 Major Updates for Training (Subclass 407) Visas! 🇦🇺
Attention all trainees and sponsors! The Australian Government has introduced significant changes to the Training (subclass 407) visa application process, effective 11 March 2026.

At Cornerstone Migration, we want to ensure you stay ahead of these requirements to avoid invalid applications and unnecessary delays.

🛑 What’s Changed?
Previously, you could lodge your visa application at the same time as your sponsorship and nomination. That is no longer the case. From now on, before you can even lodge a valid visa application:

Your sponsor must already be approved as a temporary activities sponsor.

Your sponsor must have an approved nomination for you (unless they are a Commonwealth agency).

⚠️ Why this matters:
If you submit your application through the department system before these approvals are finalized, it will be deemed invalid. While the department will refund your application charge, you may find yourself without a valid visa (or Bridging Visa) while you wait.

⚡ Streamlined vs. Extended Processing
The Department is also prioritizing specific sectors with "strong quality indicators".

Fast-tracked sectors: Health Care, Social Assistance, Engineering, Aviation, Professional Scientific and Technical, and Education and Training.

Red Flags: Applications with low pay, training durations that don't match the skill level, or those that look like "ongoing work" rather than genuine training will face extended processing times.

Confused about how this affects your stay? Don't risk your status in Australia. Contact the team at Cornerstone Migration today to ensure your sponsorship and nomination are lodged well before your training start date.

⚠️ Subclass 485 Visa Fees Have Officially DOUBLED! ⚠️

If you are planning to apply for a Temporary Graduate (subclass 485) visa, here is what you need to know about the massive changes that just went into effect on 1 March 2026.

The Australian Government has introduced a 100% increase to the Visa Application Charge (VAC) for most applicants.

💸 The New Costs (Non-Exempt Applicants):
👉 Primary Applicant: $4,600 (up from $2,300)
👉 Subsequent Entrant: $1,810 (up from $905)

🌏 Who is exempt? If you are a primary applicant holding a passport from certain Pacific countries (including Fiji, PNG, Samoa, Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, and more), you are completely exempt from this increase!

If you are about to apply or want to add family members to your visa, don’t leave it to guesswork. Your final fees depend entirely on your applicant category and passport eligibility.

📩 Send us a DM today! Our team at Cornerstone Migration will confirm the exact costs for your situation and help you navigate the most cost-effective pathway forward.

📢 Important Migration Updates – Effective 1 April & 1 July 2026

We’re announcing several key migration changes that may impact employers, skilled migrants and sponsors across Australia.

Here’s what you need to know:

🔔 Migration Agent Regulations – From 1 April 2026

The previous Migration Agents Regulations (1998) will be replaced with updated 2026 Regulations.
These changes modernise the regulatory framework, including updates to:
Code of Conduct provisions
Professional indemnity insurance requirements
Consumer guide references
Definitions within the Migration Regulations
While largely structural, this marks a significant regulatory shift in the migration profession.

💰 Income Threshold Increases – From 1 July 2026
For Subclass 482 and Subclass 186 visas:
Core Skills Income Threshold (CSIT):
➡️ Increasing to $79,499 (up from $76,515)
Specialist Skills Income Threshold (SSIT):
➡️ Increasing to $146,717 (up from $141,210)
These updated salary thresholds apply to applications lodged on or after 1 July 2026.
If you are planning to sponsor an employee, now is the time to review salary packages and timing.

🏛 NSW Skilled Visa (Subclass 190)
NSW will conduct an invitation round in early March.
Applicants must ensure their EOIs are updated before 1 March 2026 to be considered.

🌏 Regional Update – FNQ DAMA
Far North Queensland’s DAMA continues to provide regional sponsorship pathways. Updates and information sessions are underway.
Regional migration remains a strategic option for eligible businesses and applicants.

📊 Occupation Classification Review
The national occupation classification system is under review. Consultation runs from March to April 2026.
Changes to occupation definitions can directly affect skilled visa eligibility — strategic planning is essential.

🔐 VETASSESS Portal Security Update
From 2 March 2026, multi-factor authentication will apply to the VETASSESS agent portal.
What This Means
✔️ Employers should assess sponsorship plans before 1 July salary increases.
✔️ Skilled applicants in NSW should urgently update EOIs.
✔️ Regional and DAMA pathways remain active and evolving.
✔️ Occupation classifications may shift — early advice matters.
At Cornerstone Migration, we proactively monitor regulatory changes so our clients stay ahead — not behind.
If you’re considering sponsorship, permanent residency, or regional pathways, now is the time to review your position.

📩 Contact our team to discuss your strategy.

📢 Immigration Update: Going Digital

The Department of Home Affairs has officially closed its physical immigration operations at the Australian missions in Dubai, Singapore, and Washington DC.

What this means for you: 🚫 You do not need to visit the embassy to lodge a visa. ✅ All processing is now digital and can be done from anywhere.

Your application will continue to be processed by the global network, so there are no changes to your actual visa chances
