Kenny knew at university that he wanted to be a criminal defence attorney. Unjust laws and a wish to make a difference in the community where he grew up inspired him to study law.

Today he is a director at LPM, representing clients in both civil and criminal matters. He has been elected to the board of the Provincial Legal Practice Council for the North West, and is a member of the South African War Veterans and the Revolutionary Military War Veterans.

Outside the office? He is a paratrooper with a passion for skydiving, and enjoys cricket, rugby and soccer.

Without a plan, these assets may be lost for good, or leave your loved ones with tax and admin headaches.

Lose the password or seed phrase, and crypto may be permanently out of reach. But never put these details in your will, because a will may become public.

SARS treats digital assets like any other asset. They must be declared and valued in your estate.

Not everything online is yours to pass on. Some accounts are personal and may close when you die. An online business, on the other hand, may keep earning and will need someone to manage it.

A clause in your will can give your executor the power to manage, transfer or close your digital accounts. Keep an up-to-date list of what you have, and review it regularly.
