To that end, the Association is strongly committed to educating the public about the law and the proper administration of justice.

For more than 100 years the Delaware State Bar Association has organized and united the lawyers who practice in the State of Delaware and served as their professional association. The Association offers members a growing list of services and benefit plans together with Continuing Legal Education programs designed to improve the quality of the profession, the practice of law, the operation of the courts and the competency of lawyers. Through the work of its many sections and committees, the Association is regularly involved in matters pertaining to the profession, to the enforcement of our laws and to assuring equal access to the justice system for every citizen. It offers assistance to lawyers facing personal or business crisis and serves as a clearing house for lawyers in transition. It publishes a monthly magazine which is mailed to all members and arranges social events which encourage interaction and discussion among all members of the Delaware Bar and Bench. The Delaware State Bar Association currently consists of more than 4,000 members and maintains offices at 301 North Market Street, Wilmington, DE 19801.

Here is the agenda for our Bankruptcy Chapter 11 Nuts and Bolts CLE:

9:00 am – 10:00 am: Introduction to Bankruptcy
This session will provide an overview of chapter 11 bankruptcy, including a brief history of United States bankruptcy law, an overview of the current statute (the Bankruptcy Code), and the role of various parties in a bankruptcy case and the bankruptcy estate.

10:10 am – 11:10 am: The Bankruptcy Case
This session will discuss filing a bankruptcy case, first day relief, operating and financing the business in bankruptcy, retention of professionals, chapter 5 causes of action, assumption and rejection of contracts and leases, and restructuring options, such as a section 363 sale of the entire business and plan of reorganization.

11:20 am – 12:20 pm: Current Issues in Bankruptcy
This session will discuss current issues and hot topics in chapter 11 bankruptcy cases.
