Dendrochronology (or tree-ring dating) is the scientific method of dating tree rings (also called growth rings) to the exact year they were formed.

Determine if an area of land has been eroded, if it was populated with trees or higher plants(shrubs);
When and if the tree began to lean;
When it was first decayed;
