A West Haven man was sentenced to 12 years in prison in connection with a December 2021 hit-and-run crash on Route 67 in Seymour that killed James and Barbara Tamborra.

Despite the crash being witnessed by several witnesses and heavy news coverage in subsequent days the investigation went nowhere until an anonymous tipster called authorities identifying Jair Irigoyen-Flores, 28, as the driver and said he intended to leave the country.

"He fled the scene and left them to die in the street in Seymour," Kenneth Tamborra said, the couples’ eldest son. "That single remorseless act created a wound that cut four generations deep in my family."

Any hearings or events scheduled for tomorrow will be rescheduled for a later time, except for heqrings for restraining orders and civil protection orders. Those are automatically rescheduled for the next business day.
