π’ IRS Estimated Tax Payment Reminder π’
β° Today, June 15, 2026, is the due date for the 2nd Quarter Estimated Tax Payment!
If you are self-employed, own a small business, work as an independent contractor, receive 1099 income, earn rental income, or have other income with little or no tax withholding, you may be required to make estimated tax payments throughout the year.
π‘ What are Estimated Tax Payments?
Estimated tax payments are periodic payments made directly to the IRS to cover your expected income tax and self-employment tax liability. Instead of having taxes withheld from a paycheck like a traditional employee, taxpayers with non-wage income are responsible for paying taxes as they earn income.
β
Common taxpayers who may need to make estimated payments:
β’ Self-employed individuals
β’ Gig workers (Uber, Lyft, DoorDash, etc.)
β’ Freelancers and consultants
β’ Small business owners
β’ Landlords receiving rental income
β’ Investors with significant income not subject to withholding
β οΈ Why is it important?
Making timely estimated tax payments can help:
βοΈ Avoid IRS penalties and interest
βοΈ Prevent a large tax bill at filing time
βοΈ Keep your tax obligations current throughout the year
