Cassi has been a valued part of the Salter Shook & Conner family for 6 years, serving as a Family Law & Probate Paralegal for Attorney Susan Shook.

When she’s not keeping things running smoothly at the office, you can usually find Cassi fishing, grilling, & enjoying anything involving the water.

Once you hire me, my goal is to take as much of the stress of the legal side off of you as I can. We’ll talk about what happened, gather the information and evidence we need, deal with the insurance companies, and keep you updated while you focus on getting better.

If you need medical care and aren’t sure where to start, we can absolutely help you find appropriate providers. I don’t tell clients what treatment they need, because that is between you and your doctors, but we can help you navigate the process and make sure you’re getting the care you need.

As far as fees, you don’t pay me an attorney’s fee upfront for a personal injury matter. I get paid a percentage of what I recover for you. If I don’t recover anything, you don’t owe an attorney’s fee.

Basically, you shouldn’t have to spend your time worrying about adjusters, paperwork, deadlines, or what you’re supposed to do next. That’s my job. 😊

Great question! “Personal injury” is actually a pretty broad term. It includes things like car wrecks, falls, medical negligence, and defective products. It generally refers to cases where someone is harmed because of another person or company’s negligence or wrongful conduct.

And yes, emotional and mental distress can absolutely be part of a personal injury claim. In many cases, those damages go hand-in-hand with a physical injury. A physical injury may heal, but the anxiety, fear, or emotional impact from what happened can last much longer, and that matters too.

Whether emotional distress can be a claim by itself, without a physical injury, is a little more complicated and depends heavily on the facts and the law that applies.

The easiest way to think about it: personal injury law isn't just about broken bones. It’s about the different ways a wrongful act can impact a person’s life, physically, emotionally, and sometimes financially.
