Two great moments at Bundy this week. Grace Ann Green was sworn in to the Oklahoma Bar by Judge Crutchfield in Jay. Catherine Hensley was sworn to the Arkansas Bar by Judge Pickering in Okmulgee. Both are now admitted and licensed to practice in Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Missouri. And they are doing it.
A little context on why that matters. Most lawyers are licensed in only one state, and most practice in only one city or town. Among family lawyers in our region, being actively licensed in two states is rare. Being actively licensed in three is exceptional. The reason we have built the firm this way is what the licenses make possible for our clients. When a family law matter crosses a state line — a parent relocating with the children, marital assets in another state, an executive whose job moves the family, or custody enforcement against a parent who has left — the conventional approach is to hire separate lawyers in separate firms in each state. Each lawyer charges separately. Each has a different strategy. The client pays for the coordination among them, and the inconsistency shows up in the outcomes.
At Bundy, our attorneys handle those types of matters within one firm, with one strategy and one team. The savings to the client in fees and in results is substantial, and we believe it is the right way to practice family law in 2026.
Last month, Grace Ann and Catherine also completed training at the National Family Law Trial Institute. NFLTI is one of the most intensive trial training programs in family law in the country — direct and cross examination, opening and closing statements, expert witness preparation, evidentiary argument, and the strategic decisions that determine outcomes when family law cases actually go to trial. It is taught by senior trial lawyers and former judges from across the country. Attendance is selective. The cost in time and money is significant. Most family lawyers practicing today have never attended NFLTI or anything like it. The ones who do are signaling that they intend to be among the small group of family lawyers who actually try cases when matters cannot be resolved by agreement.
A family law attorney with three-state active licensure and dedicated trial training, supported by a firm that regularly tries cases across Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Missouri, is positioned to handle matters that the conventional local family law practice cannot.
