Effective November 1, 2023, here are the new annual gross income limits for qualifying to file Chapter 7 bankruptcy. These are adjusted 1-2 times per year based on D.O.J. statistics. Showing a troubled economy, for a household of 1 (single person with no kids) the allowable income limits have gone DOWN by about $1K - $2K across the board versus the last update in March of 2023, meaning that despite all the people on strike, most people are making LESS than they were a year ago. For those of you wishing to get out of debt who have considered bankruptcy but not yet decided to file, hopefully you still qualify. With wages not increasing to match inflation, it may be hard to stay afloat.

Annualized Gross Income Limits Effective 11/01/2023:
Household of 1 - $53,173
Household of 2 - $68,234
Household of 3 - $78,963

Annualized Gross Income Limits 03/01/2023 - 10/31/2023:
Household of 1 - $55,358
Household of 2 - $69,182

On April 1, 2023, the allowable gross annual income per household size for filing Chapter 7 bankruptcy increased a whopping 7.5% over a year ago. While that estimated rise in incomes does not seem to be as much as year-over-year inflation on living expenses, the good news it that many people who previously wanted to file but could not due to too high of an income now can qualify to file.

This is a simple. small yellow onion. It will cost you at least $1.50 in a grocery store these days. However, only a few years ago, you could get it for $0.99. That's a greater than 50% price hike! While 50 cents more on a single item might not mean much, just think what this means on a larger scale with all your bills. And while gasoline, utilities, and other food items may not have all increased as much as this onion, they have still increased a lot, you'll agree!
