Tyler has practiced law since 1999 and is licensed in both Florida and Georgia. His practice focuses on creditor rights, bankruptcy, and civil litigation, with experience spanning commercial litigation, adversarial bankruptcy proceedings, appellate matters, and legislative affairs.

When an individual files for bankruptcy, an automatic stay generally goes into effect immediately. It can temporarily stop many collection actions against the debtor, including certain lawsuits, collection calls, garnishments, repossessions, and foreclosure activity.

For credit unions, this means a bankruptcy filing can change what actions may be taken on a delinquent account, and how quickly the situation needs to be addressed.
