🎉 Game on, family strong! 🎲✨

We had an absolute blast at Nimitz Family Game Night! From intense board game battles to non-stop laughter and teamwork, it was an unforgettable evening of fun.

Beyond all the high fives and friendly competition, nights like this remind us how important it is to connect, recharge, and support one another. Every roll of the dice and shared smile helps build the strong bonds and everyday resiliency our families need to tackle any challenge together. 💪❤️

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and made the night so special! 🐬

Today some of our Stevens Creek Kindergarteners grew as Inclusive Collaborators and Effective Communicators, with a hands-on lesson around the book "Pumpkin Soup". Here’s how explicit skill-building came to life: Before diving in, the class directly unpacked what compromise, active listening, and cooperation actually look like and sound like in a group.

Students chose character roles for the story. Since everyone couldn't pick the same animal, they had to practice real-time communication—talking it out, navigating trade-offs, and ensuring every voice was included. Put to the test while making soup together, students put those communication tools to work by taking turns, sharing roles, and practicing group problem-solving.

To lock in their learning, students reflected on how they compromised, collaborated, cooperated, and communicated. When we explicitly scaffold these habits early on, our youngest learners build the foundational skills needed for successful lifelong collaboration!

🤝 Building connection and empathy at Cupertino Middle School!
CMS recently hosted the powerful Breaking Down the Walls event, giving students a meaningful space to explore resiliency, uncover their shared humanity, and embrace the truth that everyone has a story.
This experience is a vital piece of CMS’s broader cultural reset and aligns directly with the school’s core goal: ensuring that every single student knows and feels that they matter. By learning to understand and uplift one another, our Bears are creating a campus environment built on empathy, respect, and belonging. 💙🐻✨

This week, Stevens Creek Elementary students were treated to a fantastic author assembly with Kallie George, author of many beloved children's books! She shared the inspiration behind her stories, her journey to becoming a published author, and tips on how to bring our own creative writing to life.
The biggest takeaway? Ms. George shared that she was a Resilient Learner—and despite struggling as a troubled speller early on, her perseverance led her to a successful career doing what she loves.
What an awesome reminder that we can achieve anything if we work hard and put our minds to it! Continuous learning in action!

🎉 What an INCREDIBLE two nights of music! 🎶✨

Kennedy's Fall Music Boosters performances were a total hit! Huge congratulations to all of our talented students who took the stage in the MU—we are so proud of the progress our Resilient Learners have made so early in the school year! 🎻🎺🥁

A heartfelt thank you to our phenomenal music team—Ms. Hannah Sun, Ms. Shu-hua Cheng, and Mr. Jake Glennon, along with Ms. Christina Wong for coaching our brilliant Strings students! 🎼 Bravo on putting together such unforgettable evenings! 👏✨

And last but definitely not least, thank you to all of our amazing families who came out to listen, cheer, donate, and share in the fun. Your love and support mean the absolute world to our music program! 💕🎵

☕️ Heart-centered collaboration at Cupertino Middle School! At October’s Principal’s Coffee, CMS parents engaged in small-group dialogues focused on the District’s Resilient Learner and Global Contributor competencies.

Families worked through CMS’s grade-level challenge prompts—addressed monthly during National Team Days:
• 6th Grade: Building a safe, clean campus
• 7th Grade: Fostering a deep sense of belonging
• 8th Grade: Designing a lasting legacy

By tackling these real-world campus needs together, parents gained a deeper perspective on our students' daily experiences. CMS will use this valuable parent feedback as a touchstone throughout the year! 🐻✨

Our incredible Resource Teacher recently turned a creative art project into a masterclass in executive functioning! Students rolled up their sleeves to design and build their very own "Monster Boxes" using found objects and craft materials—and the real magic was in how they brought them to life.

This project was a direct reflection of CUSD’s Portrait of a Learner, putting critical skills into action. Before picking up a glue stick, students took ownership of their learning by creating a detailed timeline and project schedule. They mapped out each step, broke big tasks into manageable chunks, and established clear check-in points to keep themselves accountable. Turning egg cartons, scrap felt, and cardboard into monstrous masterpieces required real-world problem-solving. Students tracked their progress, adapted their plans when materials didn't fit, and adjusted their schedules to meet their deadlines. Executive functioning skills like time management, goal setting, and organization take practice! By monitoring their own pace and working through challenges, our students built confidence alongside their monsters. True Resilient Learners!

We are so proud of our students for taking charge of their learning journey and developing skills that will serve them far beyond the classroom. Check out some of their wildly creative (and organized!) creations! 📦✨
