🚗🔎 Ever Notice These Marks on the Road After a Serious Crash?

They’re commonly called road scars. They physical marks and evidence left on the roadway during a collision.

Road scars can include:

• Tire or skid marks
• Gouges or scrapes in the pavement
• Fluid stains
• Debris patterns
• Marks created when metal or other vehicle components contact the roadway

Investigators may photograph, measure, and mark these areas with spray paint because they can help reconstruct where and how a collision occurred.

Why does it matter?

Roadway evidence helps investigators evaluate things like:
