Congratulations are in order for Stephanie Anderson, President of our member company, Gradient Group, LLC. She was just inducted as the newest President of ACEC Houston at their recent Annual Meeting.

The ceremony also featured a conversation with Houston Public Works' Randy Macchi and Tom S Ramsey, PE, Harris County Precinct 3 Commissioner's Office, moderated by current ACEC President and NHA member, Emily Anderson. They also welcomed the 2026-2027 Board of Directors and graduated this year's Emerging Leaders program participants. Congratulations to all who were honored at the Annual Meeting!

Last week, our Summer Intern, Zach Hansen, had the awesome opportunity to shadow Spring Fire Department's Tracee Evans. She gave him a tour of their new Spring Training Facility and below is a sneak peek of what he loved and what he learned.

"I got to see the different tools that firefighters use depending on the situation. Some of those tools are specifically used to cut open cars to rescue people. The hoses that firefighters use might have been the coolest part of the tour, in my opinion. One firefighter explained to me that one hose can use up to 1500 gallons of water per minute!"

Thank you to all who attended this afternoon's Water Committee Meeting! We had a great lunch while enjoying an even better presentation from San Jacinto River Authority's Matthew Barrett and Michael Biehle, along with Harris County Flood Control District's Jeremy Justice. Both organizations have a robust rain, stream and flood warning system with plans to make even more advancements that help reinforce their gage network with redundancies, add National Weather Service Data to their dashboards and replace sensors that exceed their current lifecycle. June is off to a great start with us hosting Development and Transportation's last committee meetings before we take a quick break for Summer! 🌞

Thank you to Jon Yi, Senior Service Consultant of Underground Residential Distribution at CenterPoint Energy for the info packed conversation regarding data centers, the real impact they have on the community and the enhancements being done to the CenterPoint grid & infrastructure to support the increased demand. 📈🔌

Thank you also to Callie Barnes, Director of Freight Mobility at Port Houston for the fantastic presentation highlighting not only the economic impact of the nation's fastest growing port, but how partnerships are shaping the improvements of our infrastructure to support the freight, and seaport traffic increase. 🚚🚢
