A client can get listings from almost anywhere.

What they can’t get everywhere is an agent they trust.

Last week, I was sitting with a group of friends when one of them said something that caught my attention.

He told me he and his wife had been working with one of our agents, Kurt Antone Burgan, for about a year.

They originally met Kurt through Zillow.

And they were skeptical.

They had no intention of simply working with the agent Zillow connected them with. They planned to find their own Realtor.

Then they met Kurt.

A year later, they’re still working with him.

That stood out to me because they have plenty of options.

They get listings from Zillow, Trulia, Homes.com, other brokerages, and other Realtors.

Plenty of people are trying to get their attention.

So I asked the obvious question.

Why Kurt?

His answer was simple.

“It’s obvious Kurt cares more about our relationship than he does about making the next sale.”

That’s the part that matters.

Kurt stays in touch; he sends them homes he genuinely thinks they might like, and he’s patient.

He doesn’t pressure them into buying something just because another month has passed.

And after a year of looking, they still feel like Kurt is their guy.

That is what great real estate representation should feel like.

Technology matters, CRMs matter, marketing matters.

Listings, alerts, and automation all have a place.

But none of those things create loyalty on their own.

People stay loyal when they feel understood, remembered, and when they believe their agent actually cares about what happens to them.

That’s something we talk about a lot inside Haven.

We don’t want our agents using a CRM as nothing more than an automated listing machine.

We want them to use it to remember conversations, follow up intentionally, learn what matters to people, and keep building the relationship long after the first inquiry.

Because sending someone another house isn’t much of a differentiator anymore.

Every Realtor can do that.

The better question is: Why should the client want to hear from you?

Kurt answered that question without ever having to say it himself.
