For seriously ill veterans, waiting through the normal VA appeals process may simply take too long.

Attorney Francis Jackson explains that veterans with potentially fatal conditions can request to have their VA claim or appeal expedited. Medical evidence documenting the severity and prognosis of the condition can be critical to that request.

And there’s another important reason to consider pursuing an appeal even when a veteran is gravely ill: certain surviving family members, including spouses and minor children, may potentially benefit from the continuation or outcome of the claim.
