When Baur passed away in 2008 at age 89, his children realized his "Pringles plan" wasn't just a quirky dinner-table joke, it was a final directive. On the way to the funeral home, his son Larry and his siblings stopped at a local Walgreens to pick up the "urn." After a brief debate in the snack aisle over whether to use BBQ or Sour Cream and Onion, they ultimately decided that the Original flavor was the only way to truly honor the man who engineered the world’s most famous hyperbolic paraboloid chip. They placed a portion of his cremated remains inside the iconic red tube, which was then buried alongside him at his gravesite in Cincinnati.
