Hopp Neumann Humke LLP is pleased to announce the promotion of Attorney Oliver Bauer to the position of Partner with the firm effective January 1, 2025. Oliver has worked at Hopp Neumann Humke LLP since August 2014. He focuses his practice on civil litigation with an emphasis on contracts, employment, business, real estate and personal injury. Oliver also serves as Assistant Corporation Counsel for Sheboygan County and represents the Sheboygan County Department of Health and Human Services in child welfare matters. Oliver received his Juris Doctor from the University of Dayton School of Law in 2014. Oliver resides in Sheboygan with his wife, Jeanette, and daughter.

Congress passed the Corporate Transparency Act to combat money laundering and terrorist activity, but a judge ruled it unconstitutional. As of now, small business owners are relieved of the burden of complying with this new law.

The Corporate Transparency Act sparked a debate on balance between regulatory oversight and constitutional freedoms. This District Court ruling while a triumph for small business interests and constitutional advocates, also prompts reflection on the future of anti-money laundering measures.
