Seattle landlords: a major rental fee change is coming.

The Seattle City Council has passed new regulations affecting rental fees, including recurring pet rent and other tenant charges.

The changes are not taking effect immediately. The new rules are expected to be implemented in July 2027, giving landlords time to understand what’s changing and prepare.

We’re keeping an eye on the details and will share more as implementation guidance becomes available.

The market isn’t moving in one direction. King County rents are up 1.0% YOY, Snohomish County is up 1.6%, while Seattle asking rents are about 2.3% lower than last year.
