BIG updates on Italian citizenship by descent‼️🇮🇹

On April 30, 2026, the Italian Constitutional Court upheld Reform Law 74/2025, limiting eligibility for many citizenship applicants.

But there may still be hope for others.

The Court did not clarify what qualifies as being “in the process” of obtaining an appointment before the law changed. However, recent court victories in Bologna, Salerno, and Trieste suggest that applicants who can prove they made serious efforts to book an appointment may still have a potential path through the Italian courts.

If you were unable to secure a consulate appointment before the law changed, you may still have options available.
