The City of Pooler bought 35 acres of wetlands and woodlands using its Tree Fund to preserve green space and prevent development. Residents had been pushing for more conservation, leading the city to allocate funds and allow developer fees (from unmet tree requirements) to be used for land purchases.
The $430,000 property includes diverse natural features and will support wildlife and drainage. City officials say the move is part of a broader effort to expand and protect green space for future generations.
