LEAD, UCSB LEAD: Legal Education Association for Diversity

After an unequivocal and continuous denial of freedom of expression and human dignity seen presently in the under representation of students of color in law schools, the present-day pervasive inequalities affecting minorities, the surge of a baseless anti-immigrant wave strategically used to depict students of colors, as foreigners in the United States, and the second-class citizen status of immig

rant volatile of their human rights, we the members of the Legal Education Association for Diversity, undertake the imminent call to correct said wrongs by mobilizing the conscience of the minority communities, and demanding “equal protections of the law” for all “persons within [the] jurisdiction” of this nation, as endowed to all humans and, reaffirmed by the 14th Amendment of the United States Constitution and its derivative precedents. “We recognize that without a strategic use of education, an education that places value on what we value, we will not realize our destiny”. The time is now to take our struggle to the next level and ensure our people attain law degrees and practice law so that they may use new tools as instruments of guidance and prosperity for minority community.
