The Daily Journal and Law360 covered our win for Google in a proposed class action arising from allegedly fraudulent cryptocurrency apps downloaded through Google Play. The Northern District of California held that Section 230 barred the plaintiff’s unfair competition, false advertising, and negligence claims, rejecting theories that would impose liability based on Google’s publication and review of third-party apps. The Keker team included Ben Berkowitz, Ian Kanig, Natalie Heim, and Daniel Nguyen. https://www.keker.com/news/section-230-shields-google-from-crypto-scam-app-claims

Our first-ever KVP attorney alumni event was an evening to remember! We enjoyed great company, beautiful weather, delicious food, and plenty of Kekeritas and Pirate Flag cocktails. But the best part was reconnecting with everyone who has helped make KVP what it is today.

Taxpayer and immigrants’ rights advocates filed new motions yesterday in a lawsuit that challenges the IRS and SSA's unlawful sharing of protected taxpayer information. KVP attorneys Sarah Salomon, Leo Lam, Laurie Carr Mims, Charlotte Kamai, Kelly Hernández and Melissa Cordial, along with Asian Law Caucus and Greater Boston Legal Services (GBLS), are taking the lead in safeguarding immigrants' private taxpayer information.

“These motions seek straightforward answers about who received protected taxpayer and Social Security information, how that information has been used, and whether federal agencies are following the law. Immigrant families are entitled to the privacy protections Congress gave them, and we will keep pressing for transparency,” said Salomon.

A federal court today blocked the Trump-Vance administration from using its unlawful “loyalty question” on federal civil service job applications. KVP attorneys Warren Braunig, Sara Fitzpatrick, Charlotte Kamai, and Sana Singh, along with Democracy Forward and Protect Democracy, are taking the lead in defending America’s nonpartisan civil service.

"The Loyalty Question is irreconcilable with the First Amendment, the Administrative Procedure Act, and more than a century of Congress’s commitment to a professional, nonpartisan civil service. The Court’s ruling protects millions of current and future public servants from compelled political speech and unlawful viewpoint discrimination," said Braunig.
