The Bar Association of San Francisco Since 1872 we have been providing San Francisco legal professionals with networking and pro bono opportunities in order to better serve our community.

We provide legal services to disadvantaged and underserved individuals in San Francisco. We create opportunities for legal service in the community and encourage participation by our members. Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating JDC’s impact at the 22nd Annual JDC Gala, themed "Protecting Humanity, Preserving Hope."

We were honored to hear stories from an Immigrant Legal Defense Program client and School-to-College student, both of whom shared their experiences with JDC and the impactful work of our staff. A special thanks to our BASF and JDC President, Peggy Otum and our Gala Co-Chairs, Chief Judge Gonzalez-Rogers and Malcolm Heinicke, for highlighting JDC’s programs and sharing how each of us can contribute to their continued success.

The Bar Association of San Francisco and its Justice & Diversity Center extend their deepest appreciation to the many dedicated organizers of last week's screening of Beyond the Bridge. The issue of housing justice remains ever-present in San Francisco and intersects with racial justice, criminal justice, immigrant justice, workplace justice, and educational justice. The energy throughout the screening and panel discussion was palpable, and we are excited to continue working alongside community members, leaders, policymakers, advocates, and other partners to advance meaningful solutions.

The Bar Association of San Francisco and its Justice & Diversity Center join the legal community in honoring the memory of former Executive Director and General Counsel, Drucilla “Dru” Ramey who passed away on Monday, August 3rd, 2026. During her tenure from 1985 to 2002, she made countless contributions to the local legal community and expanded access to justice for thousands of our neighbors. "This community is proof of progress."

Thank you to all who made yesterday's Latinx Partner and Associate Summer Reception a memorable one, with a room filled with law students, attorneys at all levels and practices, and members of the judiciary ready to meet and support one another. Generously hosted by Hanson Bridgett, the reception featured remarks from Jennifer Marie Martinez, Erica Villanueva, Chief District Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers, Raymond Manzo, and Arturo J. González on their individual journeys as Latinx legal professionals and importance of engaging with communities such as this one.
