We're honored to share that the Thakur v. Trump team has received a 2026 Trailblazer Award from the Environmental Law Section of the California Lawyers Association.

Together with our co-counsel at Farella Braun + Martel LLP and legal scholars Erwin Chemerinsky and Claudia Polsky, we represented a class of University of California researchers pro bono after their federal research grants were unlawfully terminated by the Trump Administration.

Since the case was filed in 2025, the team’s work has helped restore more than 700 research grants worth nearly $1 billion across the UC system, allowing important academic and scientific research to continue.

The full Thakur v. Trump team includes LCHB lawyers Elizabeth Cabraser, Richard Heimann, Kevin Budner, Annie Wanless, and Clare Perez, along with Farella lawyers Tony Schoenberg, Linda Sobczynski Gilleran, Kyle McLorg, Dylan Silva, and Donald Sobelman.
